The world-renowned composer/conductor who passed away recently at the age of 80 after being awarded the Kossuth Grand Prize this year, once said that "jazz is a fundamental element for me”. At this concert in memory of his life and work, in addition to an early piece of electronic music and a late choral work, we will hear compositions of his that are closely linked to the sounds of jazz and improv performed by prominent artists from the Hungarian jazz scene.

Péter Eötvös, the world-renowned composer/conductor who passed away recently at the age of 80 after being awarded the Kossuth Grand Prize this year, once said that "jazz is a fundamental element for me”. At this concert in memory of his life and work, in addition to an early piece of electronic music and a late choral work, we will hear compositions of his that are closely linked to the sounds of jazz and improv performed by prominent artists from the Hungarian jazz scene. Also on the programme will be the world premiere of the orchestral suite that Kornél Fekete-Kovács arranged from the music of the 2002 opera that the composer wrote based on Jean Genet's drama.

Ifj. Johann Strauss egyik legnépszerűbb műve, A cigánybáró a Jókai200 emlékév keretében kerül színpadra a Budapesti Operettszínházban. A darab 1885-ben, a Theater an der Wienben aratott először sikert, amikor a zeneszerző Ignaz Schnitzer librettójára komponálta meg nagyszabású operettjét Jókai Mór Szaffi című elbeszélése nyomán.
Brindsley és Carol fiatal pár. A férfi feltörekvő szobrász, és menyasszonyával kölcsönvettek pár elegáns bútordarabot és műtárgyat a szomszédban lakó Harold Gorringe-től, hogy lenyűgözzék Carol vendégségbe érkező apját, Melkett ezredest, illetve egy gazdag műgyűjtőt, Lembergert. Azonban váratlanul elmegy az áram, így teljes sötétségben kell fogadni és megnyerni az illusztris vendégeket. Mindeközben beállít a sötéttől rettegő felsőszomszéd, Miss Furnival, felbukkan Brindsley korábbi szeretője, Clea, ráadásul Harold Gorringe, a szomszéd is idő előtt állít haza…
