Advent Concert
Advent: the coming. The four weeks leading up to Christmas are a time of anticipation. This is a busy and hectic period for most of us. Not a minute to spare, everyone is rushing to buy or prepare presents. But it is peace that is most needed at this time, so that we can prepare for the festival of love in worthy manner. What can calm down and get into the spirit? Music! Advent-themed works performed at Müpa by the Cantemus Choir Family and the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Children's Choir.
Dénes Szabó, the tireless choir director committed to Kodály's principles, began his ambitious development work in Nyíregyháza almost half a century ago, the results of which have been admired by audiences at countless concerts since. The first member of the Cantemus Choir Family was the Cantemus Children's Choir, followed by the Pro Musica Girls' Choir, the Cantemus Mixed Choir, the Cantemus Boys' Choir, and the Cantemus Youth Mixed Choir. Beside Dénes Szabó, for many years his son Soma Szabó has been playing a key role in the direction of the choirs of immense international success. The Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1943 by the great conductor, composer, and pianist Ernő Dohnányi. Over the past eight decades, the globally acclaimed ensemble has played a key role in Hungary's musical life. The Hungarian Radio Children's Choir was founded in 1954 as a result of the work of the legendary conducting couple of Valéria Botka and László Csányi. The choir is at home in all periods of music history, including contemporary works. The ensemble, which enjoys constant success abroad, has been led by Soma Dinyés since 2019.

1940-ben a budapesti Operettszínházban bemutatóra készülődtek. A szavakkal együtt rögtön bekúszik a dallam is. Eisemann darabja nem egy klasszikus operett, nincs hatalmas énekkara és tánckara. Amije viszont van, az a fülbemászó dallam és a magával ragadó történet Bán Sándor tenoristáról és az őt bálványozó bakfisokról.
